A6 is the most popular size for a card. If you want to stand out, choose A4 or a square card. Most sizes are available folded and flat. A flat card is printed on one or both sides; on an unprinted back you can write something personal yourself. A folded card looks more luxurious, can stand upright and has room on the inside for your message.
Cards are available on HV semi-matt and HV satin (250 to 400 g/m²) and on Natuurkarton (300 or 350 g/m²). The coated paper types can be laminated. Gloss gives strong colours with a slight sheen, matt makes text easier to read, and soft touch matt feels soft and is less prone to scratching than ordinary matt. You cannot write on laminate, so laminate one side only if you want to write on the back.

Choose Natural board, which is uncoated, or have only one side laminated. A laminated side can't be written on.
The structure of the board does not allow that. It would also lose its biggest advantage: that you can write on it.
That is usually caused by single-sided laminate: laminate and paper behave slightly differently. If you want flat cards, choose double-sided laminate.
