Everything about printing clothing in Nijmegen

Having a jumper or cardigan printed

A knitted jumper or cardigan has a different look to a sweatshirt: calmer, somewhat more formal and often just a touch more luxurious. That's why restaurants, hotels, receptions, schools and offices like to opt for a V-neck jumper, a gilet or a cardigan with a logo. Here, the logo is usually kept small and understated, since with knitwear it's all about the fabric and the fit. If by "jumper" you actually mean a sweatshirt or hoodie made of sweatshirt fabric? You'll find those under sweatshirts and hoodies, with much more room for large prints.

What falls under jumpers and cardigans?

The category is more varied than you might think. You'll find:

  • Knitted jumperswith a V-neck or crew neck, also for children, for example as a school uniform.
  • Striped jumpersfor men and women, with a maritime look.
  • Roll-neck jumpers, such as the Henbury model, for a sleek, modern look.
  • Giletsfor men and women: the smart sleeveless waistcoat worn in hospitality or at events.
  • Zip-up cardigansmade of sweatshirt fabric and a light bodywarmer with mesh lining.

Altogether 57 items from brands including Kariban, Kariban Premium, Henbury, Russell Collection, Tee Jays, Result Safe Guard, Brook Taverner, WK. Designed To Work, Kustom Kit and Result.

Printing knitwear: what works and what doesn't?

Knitwear has texture and stretches, and we take that into account. On a fine-knit jumper with a smooth stitch, we press a compact logo very neatly, using cut vinyl in one or two colours. This lies opaque on the fabric and you can choose from 104 colours, including gold and silver, which looks very chic on a navy or black jumper. If your logo has many colours or a gradient, you'd choose a full-colour DTF transfer.

On coarse knits or an open, ribbed stitch, a transfer adheres less firmly, because the foil cannot fully follow the deep texture. Knitwear with a lot of acrylic or wool is also sensitive to heat; we adjust the temperature and pressure to suit the fabric. Not sure whether your design will work on a particular jumper? Then we'll give you honest advice, if necessary with the jumper in hand at our workshop.

Where do you place the logo?

With jumpers and cardigans, understated works best. Guidelines:

  • Left chest6 to 9 cm wide, the classic spot on a jumper and gilet.
  • Next to the zipon a zip-up cardigan, left or right on the chest, never over the zip.
  • Backon a zip-up sweatshirt or bodywarmer it can be larger, up to around 28 cm wide.
  • Sleeve6 to 8 cm, only on a fine, smooth stitch.

On the product page, you choose 1 colour or full colour per position and upload your logo. In the digital proof you'll see how it will look on the garment.

Who are printed jumpers and cardigans for?

Gilets are often seen in hospitality and catering: with a small logo on the chest and a shirt underneath, your team looks well presented. Schools choose a V-neck jumper for a recognisable uniform. Offices and receptions give staff a knitted jumper with a logo for colder days, and sports clubs wear a gilet or bodywarmer on the sidelines. We deliver in and around the city, from Dukenburg and Lent to Beuningen and Wijchen.

Washing knitted clothing

Wash a knitted jumper inside out at 30 degrees or on a wool programme, and let it dry flat so it doesn't stretch out of shape. Don't use a tumble dryer. Don't iron over the logo; steaming on the inside is fine. Wash a zip-up sweatshirt or bodywarmer inside out too, with the zip closed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a single jumper printed?

Yes, you can order from 1 item. That's also handy if you first want to see how your logo looks on a knitted jumper, before ordering for the whole team. You'll always receive a digital proof for approval first.

Can I come to Nijmegen to have a jumper assessed?

Yes, we'd love that. With knitwear, it's good to see and feel the fabric. Come to our workshop at Betouwstraat 40 in the city centre, and we'll check together whether your design suits that jumper.

Do you also deliver jumpers and cardigans outside Nijmegen?

Yes. You can collect your order in Nijmegen city centre or have it delivered, in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region and throughout the rest of the Netherlands. You choose this when completing your order.

Is every knitted jumper suitable for printing?

Not every one. On fine knits with a smooth stitch, we press a logo neatly. On coarse or open knits, a transfer adheres less firmly, because the fabric has a lot of texture. In that case, we'll advise a different style or a smaller print.

What's the difference between a jumper and a sweatshirt?

A jumper is usually knitted, with a visible stitch. A sweatshirt is made of sweatshirt fabric, smooth on the outside and often brushed on the inside. Sweatshirts and hoodies are better suited to large prints; you'll find those in a separate category.

Can you print a gilet with a logo for hospitality?

Yes. A small logo of 6 to 9 cm on the left chest of a gilet looks well presented in hospitality. We usually make it in cut vinyl, for example in gold or silver on a dark gilet, so it stays chic and understated.

How do I wash a printed knitted jumper?

Wash the jumper inside out at 30 degrees or on a wool programme and let it dry flat. Don't use a tumble dryer and don't iron over the print. This way both the knit and the logo will stay looking good for longer.
