Beach flag printing in Nijmegen

Not sure which shape to choose? Base it on what you want to show. Lots of text calls for a square or straight, while a strong emblem comes into its own in a drop or wave.

Beach flags come in sizes from 40 x 235 to 90 x 430 cm. A low flag suits a counter, a terrace or a narrow pavement; a flag over 4 metres tall can be seen over a car park or field. Keep in mind that the lower part of the flag often disappears behind people, bicycles or a table. So put your logo and key words in the upper part. If you want to place the flag on a table or counter, the beach flag mini is your table flag: 62 cm tall, drop-shaped, with a black pole and a slightly weighted silver-coloured base.

For each shape and size there's a template, so your design fits the flag exactly. A few tips that make a difference:

• Keep text short. A name, a word and perhaps a website; no one reads more than that in passing.
• Don't let text run into the curve or the point. That's where the flag distorts when it's stretched taut.
• Choose contrast: light text on a dark background or vice versa. Fine lines and small letters disappear from a distance.
• The sleeve along the pole can be printed as part of your own design, or you can choose a white or black elastic band.

The back shows your design mirrored, because the flag fabric lets the ink through. A logo remains recognisable; text reads back to front. No design? Then we'll create one together with you.

You can order a beach flag complete with pole and base, or just a new flag if you already have a set. The latter is handy: you reuse the pole and base, and replace the flag when your house style changes or the fabric wears out after a season outdoors. You can see which bases are available per shape in the configurator. Choose a base that suits the surface: a flag stands differently in grass than on paving or indoors on an exhibition floor. If it's very windy, bring the flag inside for a while; a beach flag catches a lot of wind.

You can choose from flag fabrics such as Flag, Flag PET, Flag Longlife and Flag CiCLO®. Flag Longlife has a coarser structure and barely frays, so the drop and wave can remain unhemmed. The fabrics are flame-retardant with a fire certificate, so you can also use the flag in exhibition halls and public spaces. For outdoor use, expect a lifespan of less than two years; sun, rain and wind wear the fabric down. Store the flag dry and rolled up, and let it dry first after a rainy day.

A beach flag on the pavement counts as advertising in public space. In the centre of Nijmegen and the urban hubs, freestanding advertising on the street is not permitted, and temporary advertising is allowed for a maximum of 31 days a year. On private property, indoors, or at an event with the organiser's permission, the rules are different. Read the rules on the outdoor advertising page and always check your specific location with the local council. Wijchen, Beuningen, Malden and Arnhem also have their own rules; in Beek and Berg en Dal, signs in public space are only allowed for an event.
