Ring binding or thermal binding: how do you bind your dissertation?

Short answer: the number of sheets determines which binding fits. A plastic ring binding suits 2 to 65 sheets, a metal ring binding suits 2 to 85 sheets and a thermobind cover suits 2 to 50 sheets. A ring binding opens flat easily; a thermobind cover looks like a booklet with a glued spine.

Plastic ring binding

The black plastic ring binding is the best-known binding for dissertations and reports. It comes in 6 mm (2 to 25 sheets) and 10 mm (26 to 65 sheets). Your dissertation lies flat open on the table, handy for reading and making notes.

Metal ring binding

The silver metal ring binding gives a sleek, sturdy finish. Sizes: 6 mm (2 to 55 sheets), 8 mm (55 to 70 sheets) and 10 mm (56 to 85 sheets). This also lies flat open.

Thermobind cover

With a thermobind cover, the spine is glued with heat into a white cover. The result looks like a booklet. Sizes: 3 mm (2 to 30 sheets) and 6 mm (31 to 50 sheets).

Divider sheet and paper

At the front, you can choose a transparent plastic divider sheet, so your title page is visible and protected, or a coloured divider sheet. We print your dissertation in black and white, colour or a mix, on standard paper or, for example, glossy or natural card for the cover.

How to arrange it

Bring your pdf with you or send it to us in advance at our copy shop at In de Betouwstraat 40 in the centre of Nijmegen, about 8 minutes' walk from Nijmegen station.
