Hatertse Vennen: snowy islet in the ice

Top-down view of a frozen pond in the Hatertse Vennen in Nijmegen. A small island with snow, grass and reeds sits in the middle, surrounded by wavy rings of golden-brown ice. Fine cracks radiate through the ice around the plants. The soft, diffuse light brings out the shapes and colours.
