Everything about printing clothing in Nijmegen

Why do so many businesses and clubs choose a softshell?

Softshell sits somewhere between a fleece and a rain jacket. The outside is a densely woven, slightly stretchy fabric with a water-repellent finish; the inside is usually a soft, brushed fleece layer. Many models also have a membrane in between that blocks wind but lets body heat and moisture escape. So you get one jacket you can wear from spring right through to late autumn, without breaking a sweat in it.

That's what makes a printed softshell so popular as workwear for people who spend a lot of time outdoors and on the move: installers, driving instructors, gardeners, coaches and stewards. Twitter Netherlands had us print softshells for their team; sports clubs also often choose a softshell with a logo as a coach's jacket.

2-layer or 3-layer: what's the difference?

In this category you'll find 87 softshells from brands including Regatta Professional, Stormtech, Result, B&C, Kariban and Russell, including the men's softshell with Bionic-Finish® by Russell. Filter by target group, colour, size and material; use the certification filter to find models made from recycled polyester.

Softshell with a logo: how the pressing works

Softshell is a rewarding fabric to print on, but it does require know-how. The water-repellent layer means not every transfer adheres easily, and a membrane doesn't respond well to too much heat. That's why in our workshop we press softshells at a lower temperature and with an adjusted pressing time.

Cut vinyl gives the crispest result for a logo or text in one or two colours. You choose from 104 vinyl colours, including fluorescent, silver and metallic. Silver or fluorescent yellow text on a black or navy softshell is clearly visible in low light.

DTF transfer is the right choice if your logo has many colours, a gradient or a photo. It stays flexible, even on stretchy fabric.

A handy tip: some models, such as the printable safety softshell, are specially made for printing, with an outer fabric that adheres extra well.

Where do you place the logo?

  • Left chest8 to 10 cm wide; watch out for the zipped chest pocket.
  • Backup to about 25 cm wide, just below the collar. On a softshell with a hood, the upper back stays clear.
  • Sleeve6 to 8 cm, for a name, role or sponsor.
  • Back of collara narrow line, for example a website.

On the product page, you choose one colour or full colour per position and upload your logo. The proof shows you how it will look on the model.

Washing and care

Wash a printed softshell inside out, with the zips closed, at 30 degrees or according to the wash label. Don't use fabric softener: it clogs the membrane and damages the water-repellent layer. Let the jacket air dry and never iron over the print. That way, both the fabric and the logo stay in good condition for years.

Looking for more?

Prefer something without sleeves? Take a look at the bodywarmers, which include softshell bodywarmers too. Looking for a warmer jacket for winter, then you'll find more choice among the jackets. And for a team working outdoors, workwear is a great fit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a single softshell jacket printed with my name?

Yes, you can order from us starting at 1 item. You choose the model, place your name or logo in the position you want, and you'll first receive a digital proof. Once you've approved it, we press the softshell in our workshop.

Will the printing damage the water-repellent layer?

No, not if it's done properly. We press softshells at a lower temperature with an adjusted pressing time, so the membrane and finish stay intact. Only the spot where the logo goes is covered by the transfer.

Which technique do you use on softshell?

For a logo in one or two colours, we use cut vinyl: crisp and opaque, in 104 colours. If your design has many colours or a gradient, we use a DTF transfer, which stays flexible on stretchy fabric.

Can I drop by in Nijmegen to try on softshells?

Yes. At our workshop at In de Betouwstraat 40, in the centre of Nijmegen, you can feel the fabrics, compare colours and discuss your logo. Feel free to call ahead on 024 360 5753 if there's something specific you'd like to see.

Do you also deliver softshells outside Nijmegen?

Yes. You can collect your printed softshells in the centre of Nijmegen or have them delivered. You choose this when completing your order.

How do I wash a printed softshell?

Inside out, zips closed, at 30 degrees or according to the wash label. Don't use fabric softener, as it damages the membrane. Let the jacket air dry and don't iron over the print.

What's the difference between 2-layer and 3-layer softshell?

With 2-layer, the outer fabric and fleece are bonded directly together: supple and light. A 3-layer softshell has a membrane between the layers, making it more windproof and slightly warmer. Both print well.
