Everything about printing clothing in Nijmegen

Having skirts and dresses printed: when do you do that?

Skirts and dresses aren't the first thing you think of when it comes to printed clothing, but they do complete a team outfit. A tennis, hockey or padel team wants a skirt in club colours with the club logo. A reception or hotel dresses staff in a smart skirt with a printed blouse. And a printed dress stands out as promotional clothing at a trade fair, or as your own merchandise. Precisely because the choice in this category is clear and manageable, we're happy to help you find the right style and the right spot for your logo.

Which skirts and dresses can be printed?

In this category you'll find 26 styles from, among others, Brook Taverner, Kariban, Proact, Native Spirit, WK. Designed To Work, Spiro, Kariban Premium, Build Your Brand, Result Recycled and Spasso. A few examples:

  • Sports skirtsthe women's tennis skirt and children's tennis skirt from Proact, a skirt from Spiro and a skirt with built-in shorts, which you can wear with confidence during sport and exercise.
  • Smart skirtsthe classic pencil skirt for reception, hospitality and office.
  • Dressesa short-sleeved dress and a bio fleece lounge dress.
  • Sustainablean organic women's fleece skirt and styles made from recycled material.

Where does the logo go on a skirt or dress?

With skirts and dresses, the movement of the fabric determines where a print will stay looking good. As a guideline:

  • Sports skirt, hip6 to 8 cm, left or right at the front on the hip. The classic spot for a club logo.
  • Sports skirt, backa name or short text of around 15 cm wide, above the hem.
  • Pencil skirtat most a small logo of 5 to 6 cm on the hip, or put the logo on the matching blouse instead.
  • Dressleft chest 7 to 9 cm, or larger on the back up to around 25 cm wide.

We don't press over the waistband, a zip or a seam; a transfer doesn't adhere well there. On the product page you choose 1 colour or full colour per position and upload your logo.

Stretchy sports fabric, fleece or smart fabric: which technique?

Sports skirts are often made of polyester with elastane, so that they move with you. On that stretchy fabric we keep the logo compact and use a thin transfer that can move with the fabric. Cut vinyl is ideal for a club logo or name in one or two colours: crisp, opaque and in 104 colours, including fluorescent and metallic. If your logo has more colours or a gradient, choose a DTF transfer in full colour.

Fleece has a soft, slightly rough surface; we press this with a bit more pressure so the transfer adheres well. A smart pencil skirt is often made of a smooth, lined fabric. There we often recommend a small logo, or leaving the skirt unprinted and putting the logo on the blouse instead: that looks calmer.

Who are printed skirts and dresses for?

Tennis, hockey, korfball and padel clubs order skirts in club colours, often together with matching shirts. Hotels, restaurants and receptions combine a pencil skirt with a printed blouse. Brands and webshops have a fleece dress printed as their own merchandise, and at events a team in printed dresses stands out immediately. Clubs from Lent, Dukenburg, Malden and Wijchen know their way to our workshop in the city centre well.

Washing and care

Wash a sports skirt inside out at 30 or 40 degrees, without fabric softener, as this reduces the moisture-wicking of sports fabric. Wash fleece at 30 degrees and let it air dry on the line. Never iron over the print and don't use a high setting on the dryer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have one skirt or dress printed?

Yes, you can order from us starting at 1 piece. Handy if you want to see one tennis skirt or dress first before kitting out the whole team. You'll always receive a digital proof first, so you know exactly how the logo will look.

Can I come to Nijmegen to view skirts and dresses?

Yes. Come and visit our workshop at Betouwstraat 40, in the centre of Nijmegen. There you can feel the fabrics, compare colours and work with us to determine where the logo looks best on the skirt or dress.

Do you also deliver printed skirts and dresses outside Nijmegen?

Yes. You can collect your order in the centre of Nijmegen or have it delivered, in the region and throughout the rest of the Netherlands. Handy for a sports club whose members don't all live in the city.

Can you print a tennis skirt with a club logo?

Yes. A club logo of 6 to 8 cm on the hip is the most popular spot. On stretchy sports fabric we keep the logo compact, so it moves with the fabric. A name on the back above the hem is also possible.

Which technique works on stretchy sports fabric?

For a logo or name in one or two colours we choose cut vinyl; for more colours, a DTF transfer. On fabric with elastane we keep the print compact and use a thin transfer that can move with the fabric.

Can I have a smart pencil skirt printed with a logo?

That's possible, with a small logo of 5 to 6 cm on the hip. We often recommend leaving the skirt unprinted and putting the logo on the matching blouse instead. That looks calmer and more businesslike.

How do I wash a printed sports skirt?

Wash the skirt inside out at 30 or 40 degrees and don't use fabric softener, as this reduces moisture-wicking. Let it air dry on the line and never iron over the print.
