Why a shirt or blouse with a logo?

A shirt is the most formal garment you can have printed. Where a polo looks sporty and a T-shirt looks informal, a printed shirt radiates craftsmanship and trust. Think of the serving staff in a restaurant, a hotel reception desk, an estate agent's office, a trade fair stand or a team visiting customers. A small logo on the chest is often enough: the shirt does the rest. That's how you turn a smart outfit into recognisable workwear.

Where do you place the logo on a shirt?

A shirt has buttons, a chest pocket, seams and sometimes epaulettes. We don't press over those, so you choose the position carefully. Guidelines:

  • Left chest6 to 8 cm wide, in the spot where a chest pocket would otherwise be, or just above the pocket.
  • Right chest5 to 7 cm, for a name or job title, next to the button placket.
  • Sleeve6 to 8 cm on the upper arm. A strong spot on a short-sleeved pilot shirt.
  • Backbelow the yoke, up to about 25 to 30 cm wide, handy for event staff.

On the product page you choose 1 colour or full colour per position and upload your logo. In the digital proof you can see exactly where it will go.

Oxford, twill or poplin: which technique do you choose?

The weave of a shirt determines how a print will look. Oxford has a visible basket-weave structure and feels sturdy; twill has a fine diagonal rib and drapes smoothly; poplin is smooth and light. On all three you can apply a logo sharply with cut vinyl: opaque, crisp down to small lettering and available in 104 colours. A white logo on a navy shirt or a silver logo on black looks chic and professional.

If your logo has many colours or a gradient, a DTF transfer in full colour works well. Many shirts have a crease-resistant or non-iron finish and a cotton-polyester blend. We adjust the temperature and pressing time to suit this, so the fabric doesn't gain a sheen or discolour.

Choosing the fit and style

The right shirt depends on who's wearing it and where. A slim fit looks modern, a comfort fit is pleasant to wear during a long working day. Women's blouses are tailored and have the buttons on the other side. Choose long sleeves for office and reception work, short sleeves for summer and hospitality. A pilot shirt with epaulettes and two chest pockets suits security, technical and aviation roles.

Who we print shirts and blouses for

Hospitality venues, hotels and caterers dress their serving staff in a blouse or shirt with a logo. Estate agents, consultants and installation companies choose one for customer visits. Choirs, bands and orchestras have a shirt printed with a name for a recognisable stage look, and at events and trade fairs it's instantly clear who belongs to the organisation. For Henrie Wulterkens, for example, we printed workwear. From Nijmegen-Oost, Lent or Arnhem, you're quickly with us in the city centre.

Washing and ironing a printed shirt

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a single shirt printed?

Yes, you order from us from 1 item. This means you can first have one shirt or blouse made with your logo to judge the fit and look, and then kit out the rest of your team with the same style.

Can I visit you in Nijmegen to view shirts?

Yes. In our workshop at Betouwstraat 40, in the centre of Nijmegen, you can feel the difference between oxford, twill and poplin and compare fits. We're also happy to think along about the best spot for your logo.

Do you also deliver printed shirts outside Nijmegen?

Yes. You can collect your order in the centre of Nijmegen or have it delivered, in the region and in the rest of the Netherlands. You choose this when completing your order.

How big should a logo on a shirt be?

On the chest we use 6 to 8 cm wide as a guideline. That's large enough to be legible and small enough to keep the shirt looking professional. For a name on the right chest, 5 to 7 cm is a good size.

Can I have a blouse printed with my name?

Yes. A name or job title on the right chest, next to the company logo, is usually done in cut vinyl in the same colour as the logo. For a team with different names, it's easiest to request a quote.

Can a non-iron shirt be printed?

Yes. Many shirts have a crease-resistant finish and a cotton-polyester blend. We adjust the temperature and pressing time to suit the fabric, so it doesn't gain a sheen or discolour. Your logo is applied sharply using cut vinyl or DTF.

How do I wash and iron a printed shirt?

Wash inside out at 30 or 40 degrees and hang the shirt on a hanger straight away. Iron on the inside or around the logo, but never over it. It's best not to use a high setting on the tumble dryer.
