Everything about printing clothing in Nijmegen

Having babywear printed: small format, big gesture

A romper with the baby's name, a bib with a funny text or a pair of pyjamas with the date of birth: printed babywear is personal without taking up much space. It's a baby gift that's actually worn, a lovely way to announce a birth and a tangible memento of the first few months. Because you can order from us from 1 item, it's just as easy to have one unique piece made as a set for twins or the whole maternity visit.

What do you put on babywear?

Most designs are simple and all the more beautiful for it. Think of:

  • Name and date of birth, possibly with time, weight and length, as a birth announcement you can wear.
  • A short text, such as a nickname, "little sister" or a joke from the parents.
  • A small illustrationor a brother or sister's own drawing, in full colour.
  • Matching clothingfor parents, such as a women's T-shirt made of organic cotton with the same text as on the romper.

Where does the print go and how big should it be?

Babywear is small, so a design needs to be more compact than you're used to. As a guideline:

  • Romper or little shirt, chest:8 to 12 cm wide, depending on the size.
  • Bib:10 to 12 cm wide, centred in the middle.
  • Pyjamas:on the chest, or a small name of 5 to 6 cm on the leg.
  • Back:a name between the shoulders, about 10 cm wide.

Don't make the letters too thin: a name stays more legible if the letters are at least a centimetre high. In the digital proof, you'll see exactly how the design looks on the chosen size.

Pressed, with a soft finish

All babywear is pressed in our own workshop: the print is a transfer that's set into the fabric using heat. With babywear, we pay extra attention to a washable, soft finish. We keep the print compact and choose a flexible transfer that moves with the fabric.

  • Cut vinylis used for a name or text in one or two colours. Crisp and sharp down to small letters, in 104 colours, including gold, silver and soft shades.
  • DTF transferis the choice for a drawing, photo or design with lots of colours. It's thin and flexible and also works on dark fabric, such as navy pyjamas or denim.

Fabric, brands and sizes

In this category you'll find babywear from Babybugz and Larkwood, supplemented with children's clothing from Kariban. Alongside basics, Babybugz also has some sturdier items, such as denim dungarees and a striped Breton top. Larkwood makes, among other things, a striped pyjama set, and there's also a long-sleeved pyjama set made of organic cotton. In the overview, you can filter by size, colour, material and certification, such as GOTS organic cotton. Not sure about the size? For a baby gift, it's better to choose a size up, so it'll still fit in a few months' time.

  • 4. Pressing and collecting:you collect it in the centre of Nijmegen or have it delivered, for example directly to the new parents.

Many baby gifts go to parents in the area, from Nijmegen-Oost and Lent to Malden and Beuningen, but we also ship to the rest of the country.

Washing and care

Babywear is often washed a lot. Turn printed clothing inside out, wash at 30 or 40 degrees with a mild detergent and preferably line dry rather than tumble dry on high heat. Never iron directly over the print. This way, the name stays legible, even if the romper later gets passed on to a younger brother or sister.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a single romper printed with a name?

Yes, you can order from 1 item. One romper with name and date of birth as a baby gift is exactly what this is for. You put together the print on the product page and receive a digital proof first for approval.

How is babywear printed?

We press a transfer onto the fabric using heat: cut vinyl for a name or text in one or two colours, DTF transfer for a drawing or photo. With babywear, we keep the print compact and choose a flexible, washable finish.

How do I wash printed babywear?

Wash inside out at 30 or 40 degrees with a mild detergent, preferably line dry and don't iron directly over the print. This way, the name or text stays looking good for a long time, even after lots of washes.

What can I have put on a baby gift?

Popular choices are the name, date of birth, time, weight and length. A nickname, a short text or a small drawing also work well. Keep the design compact, as babywear is small. In the proof, you'll see how it looks.

Can I come to Nijmegen to view babywear?

Yes, you're welcome at our workshop at Betouwstraat 40 in the centre of Nijmegen. You can feel the fabric, compare colours and work out the text and position of the print together with us.

Can you deliver a baby gift outside Nijmegen too?

Yes. You can collect it in the centre of Nijmegen, but we also deliver, for example directly to the parents. Simply fill in the delivery address you'd like to use when ordering.

Can I have matching shirts made for the parents?

Certainly. You can have the same text or illustration pressed on a romper and on a T-shirt for mum or dad. Choose the clothing in the various categories and use the same design; in the proof, you'll see everything together.
